Summary
Editorial Illustration for Rest of World article- " ChatGPT is huge in India. These locally focused startups found a way to compete Indian founders are building digital data sets for low-resource languages by involving the community, and count on local relevance to go against big tech platforms. "
Rest of World is a nonprofit publication that challenges expectations about whose experiences with technology matter. We connect the dots across a rapidly evolving digital world, through on-the-ground reporting in places typically overlooked and underestimated.

Starting Point- Rough Concepts
We Created 3 rough concepts that focused on Indic alphabets, skeuomorphic and retro-futuristic design elements. Munira(Art director, Rest Of World) told me to keep the illustration imagery away from robots, phones, or anything stereotypically AI.

Selected Concept
The concept we went forward with was the skeuomorphic, retro-futuristic glyph machine. The idea is to create glyphs in different scripts in a retro-futuristist style, in an abstract retro-futuristist machine. The hands coming in are interacting with the machine. The intent is to subtly imply that undecipherable language is getting interpreted by the AI, and getting translated.
